64--just one year more . . .
" . . . I'll be med-bill free"
No such luck--apparently, not even my husband's medical insurance (from his former employer of 30 years) combined with Medicare will cover long-term hospitalization and/or nursing-home, rehab facility, or skilled-care facility stays. And long-term care insurance is way too expensive for us. We're trying to stay healthy, instead. :) So far, so good. Aside from the kidney stones, we seem to have lucked out in the genetic lottery.
And now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going down the hall to raid the candy machine for my birthday dose of Oreos. :)

Happy birthday!
Wish you continued health and many years of enjoying it :-)
Hope you had a very happy birthday.
Susan B and AnDat, thanks! We're working on the continued health, but the birthday celebrations--my husband's is next week--should continue for a while. The current plan is to go out for dinner Tuesday night after the shiur at Mechon Hadar, go to the Soul Farm concert at the Carlebach Shul next Saturday night, and go out for dinner with an old friend in a couple of weeks. If you get to the Carlebach Shul next Saturday night and spot an older woman dancing in the back of the room, that'll be me. :)
You are clueless on what makes one healthy, if you don't mind me saying so. It is evident from your statement, "we seem to have lucked out in the genetic lottery."
You blame disease on genetics. How wrong you are. Many illnesses APPEAR genetic - to conventional (drug-pushing) doctors included - but only because the DIET THAT RUNS IN THE FAMILY is to blame for the illness in the first place.

Happy B!
Pragmatician, thanks!
In the vanguard, we've actually been working on improving our diet, adding more veggies and fruit. *You* might wish to work on your choice of wording--calling someone "clueless" is not the best way to "make friends and influence people," as the old saying goes.
